OVERVIEW

What is ICEGATE?

ICEGATE (Indian Customs Electronic Gateway) is the official e-commerce portal of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). It is the single-window platform for electronic customs transactions — Bill of Entry, Shipping Bill, duty payment, IGST refund, duty drawback, e-Sanchit and AD Code registration.

Under the Customs Act, 1962 and EDI regulations, customs transactions at EDI-enabled ports must be filed electronically through ICEGATE. The portal is PAN-based and requires a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) for signing documents. It integrates with banks, DGFT (for IEC) and port systems. Registration is essential for importers, exporters, customs brokers and other trade partners.

Authorised Dealer Code links your bank account to the customs system for duty payment, refunds and trade-related bank reporting. It is registered through ICEGATE with bank support.

Yes. Customs brokers can file for you. Even then, your own ICEGATE registration is useful for real-time tracking, duty verification and visibility over consignments.

No government fee for ICEGATE registration itself. You need a Class 3 DSC (cost separate) and a valid IEC (govt fee ₹500 if not already obtained).
